The majority of journeys undertaken are for transporting passengers to medical services and day centres on behalf of the local authorities, but many others are for shopping, family visits and similar.
The organisation is operated on a non-profit basis with the aim of covering costs, and providing a continuing service in the area. Bungay Area Community Transport was established in 1997. In 2004, as a result of growing demands from a wider area the name was changed to its present one which recognises that the service extends to, and beyond, Beccles.

Our aim is to provide transport for people living in Beccles, Bungay and surrounding villages to whom other forms of public transport are not easily available. Use of the service is open to all - young, old, able-bodied or infirm.
BACT is registered under the Industrial & Provident Societies Act 1965 and is recognised as a charity by HMRC.
